Recipe for Balushahi

About– Balushahi is also known as “Badusha” which is a Mughlai dish and was popular in the kitchens of Moghul emperors and that’s why its name is given as shahi and even it tastes shahi which can win the hearts of foodies.

Taste and use– It resembles with donut but it varies in taste and texture as Balushahi is layered and crunchy in taste. It is usually made for weddings and festivals in India. Food eaten on Diwali is endless but my personal attraction is for this sweet.

Storage of Balushahi- You can make and store this Indian cuisine for 8-10 days and can serve hot which can double the taste of this sweet.

How to prepare it at home- Balushahi Banane ki Vidhi

It is not as difficult to prepare it at home, you just have the idea about Recipe for Balushahi. During the festive season, it would be fun to try new and new food items. So here is the recipe for Balushahi.

Ingredients for Balushahi

For Dough

  1. 250 gm maida/ refined flour/ all-purpose flour
  2. ½  tsp sugar
  3. ½ tsp baking powder
  4. Water approx ¼ cup
  5. ½ cup 50 gm ghee
  6. ¼ cup 60gm curd
  7. Oil for deep frying

For sugar syrup

  1. 1 cup or 250gm sugar
  2. ½ cup of water
  3. Elachi powder

How to prepare- Balushahi Recipe

👉 In a large bowl mixing bowl take flour, curd, sugar, and baking powder and combine them well.

👉 Add ghee and water and knead the dough but do not over knead the dough.

👉 After that cover the dough and let it rest for 30 minutes.

👉 After the dough has rested break off the dough into lemon size balls because after frying they will increase in the shape.

👉 Make it round with both your palms and pinch it from the center.

👉 And now deep fry the balls on medium to low flame until it turns golden brown. Make sure that you do not fry on a very high flame.

👉 Take of the balls on the plate and make sugar syrup on the other hand.

👉 Take sugar add it into the water and make one thread sugar syrup, turn off the gas and add elachi powder and Balushahi in it.

👉 Soak the Balushahi in sugar syrup for 4-5 minutes.

👉 Cool them off and garnish the Balushahi with cashew and are ready to eat.
