Shardiya Navratri commences on the first and ends on the 10th day of the bright half of the lunar month, Ashwin. This festival is dedicated to Maa Durga.
The name of Shardiya Navratri was taken from Sharad Ritu. 9 days of Navratri are dedicated to nine forms of Goddess Shakti. Each avatar of Navdurga represents a distinct characteristic of Goddess Durga.
After completion of 9 days, the tenth day is often referred to as Dussehra or Vijayadashmi. It is a festival that symbolizes the victory of good over evil.
