Significance of Dhanteras

As per the Hindu mythology, it is believed that on this day Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Kuber emerged out of the ocean while churning of the milky sea. From that day, people started the worship of Lakshmi and Kuber, the god of wealth and prosperity.

On this day, buy precious metals, jewelry like gold and silver, crockery, utensils, etc, are considered to be very lucky and the new item considered as the sign of welcoming Lakshmi in their home.

This day is also favorable for buying a new house, buying a new vehicle or starting a new business.
